LYNNWOOD, Wash. – As Texas continues to recover from the devastating hurricane season, Western Washington continues to rescue pets from the state’s overcrowded shelters.

Anya Pamplona with the PAWS Animal Shelter in Lynnwood told KOMO they got about 24 dogs from Texas shelters Thursday night.

“Texas doesn’t have the spade-neuter resources that Western Washington has, so they have a much bigger population of dogs in the shelters.”

On Wednesday, PAWS also received 28 cats from a shelter near Modesto, California.

Pamplona says the cats are ready for adoption starting today, while the dogs should be ready this weekend.
