OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Center for Disease Control is working with state health officials to track down the source of an E. coli outbreak, with 17 cases reported across 13 states, including one in Washington.

KING-TV reports health officials are investigating whether the illnesses that happened between November 15 and December 8 are linked to romaine lettuce and if it’s also behind an outbreak in several Canadian provinces.

The CDC says since they haven’t found the source yet, they can’t recommend whether U-S residents avoid a particular food.
