TACOMA, Wash. (AP) – Two people have now been charged in the death of Pierce County Deputy Daniel McCartney.
Frank Pawul and Brenda Troyer are charged with murder and kidnapping. Prosecutors suspect Troyer of being the getaway driver.
A third suspect in the shooting, Henry Carden, died at the scene after authorities say he shot himself in the head.
Meanwhile, Deputy McCartney’s family is mourning the death of a husband and father of three.
KOMO reports Butte County Sheriff and McCartney’s uncle, Kory Honea, spoke on behalf of the family and urged people to remember the good in McCartney’s life.
“Remember, Daniel gave his life protecting this community. I would hope that people remember that, and honor Daniel by respecting law enforcement and what they do for us every day,” Honea said.
