BELLINGHAM, Wash. – An annual survey of the homeless in Whatcom County is set for January 25.
The “Point In Time” count tracks homelessness in cities across the U.S. on the same day.
Summer Starr with the Volunteer Center of Whatcom County said the Department of Commerce and Housing and Urban Development Department initiative helps determine how funding is allocated nationwide.
About 60 volunteers will survey the homeless with the goal of better understanding how the community can address homelessness, Starr said.
Starr said there is still a need for more volunteers to help with the survey, and training on Friday and Monday will take prospective volunteers through the survey in detail.
