METHOW VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — A skier died in an avalanche Sunday in Methow Valley.

The Okanogan County Sheriff says four skiers were caught in the slide, but the other three survived.

Dangerous conditions and extreme avalanche danger prevented crews from recovering the body.

Avalanches have claimed several lives in Washington recently including two teenage snowshoers and three snowmobilers in the past week, while several other people have gone missing on the mountains.
