
Correction: Fixes headline and story to read “Nathan Hale” instead of “Garfield”
Former Nathan Hale High School star and University of Washington basketball recruit Jontay Porter has committed to Missouri. Porter announced his decision via social media Monday night.
Porter, who enter his senior season of high school in Missouri as the 10th ranked player in the class of 2018 by Rivals.com, posted a photo of himself in a Missouri jersey on Twitter. He added “After much thought and prayer I have decided to commit to the University of Missouri!”. The photo and account have since been removed.
The 6-10 forward joins his brother Michael Porter Jr., the top ranked incoming freshman of the 2017 class, with Missouri. Their father, Michael Porter Sr., is a new assistant coach with the Tigers.
Michael Porter Sr. was an assistant coach at Washington last season. He left for Missouri after head coach Lorenzo Romar was fired. Michael Jr. and Jontay had both originally committed to the Huskies, but de-committed in March.
Michael Jr. and Jontay led Nathan Hale to an undefeated record and the 3A state championship in Washington state back in March.

According to ESPN.com, another former Washington recruit, point guard Blake Harris has also committed to Missouri. Harris is ranked 96th for the class of 2017 by ESPN recruiting.
