BELLNGHAM, WASH – More jobs and fewer unemployed people – that’s the summary of February’s employment report for Whatcom County.

County employers added 1900 jobs compared to a year earlier.

State and local government led the way with an additional 900 positions.

Construction, retail and tourism added 200 jobs each.

Nearly every sector was up.

The 5.9% unemployment rate was down nearly a full percentage point from last year and almost half-a-percent from last month.
