Four years after the deadly Oso slide, the community is working to create a memorial to victims of the slide and their families.
Rows of 43 trees are currently planted in the area, one for each of the victims, but KOMO reports the community and county have been working with the families for months and now have plans for a permanent memorial.
The county hopes to break ground at the site on the fifth anniversary of the slide, March 22, 2019.
Organizers have set up a donation website and are trying to raise at least $6-million to pay for the design, building and maintaining the memorial and other needs.
