LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol and Lakewood police have arrested nearly a dozen persons in a planned human trafficking sweep Thursday morning.

Lt. James Mjor says troopers worked with the Lakewood PD, Seattle PD, and two other agencies in the operation based out of a truck stop in northern Pierce County near I-5, starting Wednesday night.

Within four hours of starting, officers say they found seven victims of human trafficking and prostitution.

Victim advocates were brought on scene to provide food, water, water, services, and contact information to the victims, according to the State Patrol.

Suspects were charged with a variety of offenses, including promoting and soliciting prostitution.
