SEATTLE (AP) – A teen is in critical condition after he was pulled from Lake Washington where he had been taking a water test as part of a boating program.
KOMO-TV reports Seattle firefighters were called to the dock in the Sand Point neighborhood Monday for a boy who had slipped under the water.
The 17-year-old boy had been taking a water test as part of a YouthCare Seattle boating program with Sail Sand Point, Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Kristen Tinsley said.
The teen reportedly was underwater for about six minutes before he was found and pulled onto the dock.
Sail Sand Point’s executive director Mary Anne Ward said about 2,000 children take part in the program every year and all take the water test before going out in the boats.
