BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Various Memorial Day events are planned around Whatcom County including the 53rd annual Festival of Flags and Remembrance Ceremony and the Memorial Day parade.

At noon on Saturday, the newly dubbed Whatcom Memorial Day Parade starts at Alabama Street and Cornwall Avenue, with the backing of the Bellingham-based Marine Corps League and community donations.

On Monday, Ferndale holds the Festival of Flags at Greenacres Memorial Park from noon to 3 P.M. and will unveil the Korean War Memorial.

Lynden has two ceremonies at 10 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. at the Lynden Cemetery and Greenwood Cemetery featuring speakers, a twenty-one gun salute and local middle school bands playing “Echo Taps.”

Bellingham also has two observances on Monday at Memorial Park at 9 A.M. and Bayview Cemetery at 11 A.M. which will both feature the same lineup and traditional laying of the wreaths ceremony.
