FERNDALE, Wash. – A man has been arrested after setting a car on fire and damaging the inside of a Ferndale restaurant.

City of Ferndale spokesperson Susan Duncan said that officers were called to investigate the car fire on Monday,  August 29 at Chihuahua’s restaurant.

Flames were seen shooting out of the gas tank and rear bumper of the car when officers arrived.

No one was inside the car, but officers spotted a broken window and a person inside of the restaurant.

The person was covered in blood and fled the building when officers found him.

A Bellingham K9 unit eventually found the suspect in downtown Ferndale, and he was taken into custody.

26 year old Mark Larson III is accused of causing $40,000 in damage to the car, and an additional $20,000 in damage to the restaurant.
