SEATTLE, Wash. — A sting operation by multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of a courier for a group smuggling large amounts of drugs up I-5 from southern California and eventually into Canada via Whatcom County.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Seattle says that after a long investigation undercover officers contacted Adrian Perez of San Diego and offered to sell him 18 kilos of cocaine.
They arrested him when he took possession of the cocaine last week, and a search of a home he was renting in Seattle and his vehicle turned up more than 300 pounds of methamphetamine and four thousand dollars in cash.
Perez faces charges that would bring a minimum 10-year prison sentence if he’s convicted.
