MARBLEMOUNT, Wash. – State and federal wildlife agencies trapped, collared and released what they think is an adult gray wolf near Whatcom County.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports the wolf was located east of Burlington near Marblemount last week.

Agents started looking for the wolf after they got reports of wolf tracks, howling and chickens being attacked.

The State Department of Fish & Wildlife says it’s the first time a gray wolf has been caught and fitted with a GPS collar in Western Washington.

There are no known packs in the western part of the state.
