SEATTLE, Wash. — After a lengthy delay, US 2 is back open.

The DOT closed a portion of the highway to Stevens Pass after it was hit by heavy snow on Sunday, causing trees to fall across the highway and take down power lines.

Crews have been hard at work clearing the highway for days on end and it finally paid off.

King County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Stanley says they’re checking on people in the town of Skykomish who have been stranded for days.

US 2 is fully open Friday morning, but the DOT urges travelers to continue to check pass conditions before you head over the mountains.
