OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington’s Attorney General and Secretary of State have spelled out how power would be transferred if Governor Jay Inslee were to be tapped to serve in a Biden administration.

Bob Ferguson and Kim Wyman released a statement that says the state constitution spells out that the Lieutenant Governor would take over for Inslee if he were to resign.

If Inslee stepped down within the first two years of his new term voters would elect a new person to serve out the term in the next general election.

Outgoing U.S. Congressman Denny Heck is the Lt Governor elect.

He would continue his duties as Lt. Governor while acting as governor except presiding over the state senate which would select a new person to lead it.
