BELLINGHAM, Wash. – It’s been a hot, dry and smoky summer so far, but that may be about to change.
The National Weather Service has an Air Quality Alert in effect for much of the state including Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Counties due to eastern Washington fires.
It lasts through midnight Tuesday, but as of Tuesday morning air quality in much of Whatcom County is still considered moderate.
Air is expected to come in off the water overnight and push smoke out of the area, but also bring cooler temperatures.
Several weather outlets forecast the possibility of rain this weekend.
