ABBOTSFORD, BC — An Alaska man who was accused of attempting to smuggle guns into Canada this summer has his day in court today.

The Canada Border Service Agency announced charges against 33-year-old Corey Scott Kettering of Alaska Friday following an incident at the Sumas-Abbotsford port of entry on July 27th in which Canadian officers seized 14 firearms.

Officials say the haul includes four prohibited semi-automatic rifles, three prohibited handguns, on restricted handgun and six non-restricted long guns.

Kettering appears in Abbotsford Provincial Court facing three gun-related charges and a charge of making false or deceptive statements to border officials.
