BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Smoke from Canadian wildfires is headed our way.

Alberta Wildfire says there are several out-of-control wildfires currently in the province.

The largest one is about 800 miles northeast of Bellingham.

National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Burke told the Seattle Times some of the smoke from the Canadian fires is making its way into western Washington, but he says it’s not necessarily a sign of worsening haze to come.

He says the smoke is fairly thin and mostly in the upper atmosphere and it’s too soon to tell whether this summer will be as smoky as last summer in western Washington.
