TACOMA, Wash. – In one week, Amtrak’s only expansive waterfront section on the Pacific Coast route will reach the end of the line.
Q13 reports the roughly 20 miles along Tacoma’s waterfront and through the Tacoma Narrows has been part of the route for train travelers to enjoy for more than a century.
Starting on the 19th, a new route will open running parallel to I-5, with a new Tacoma Amtrak station as well. The waterfront section will be open to freight lines only.
Losing the views means saving time on the Amtrak trips.
