BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham won’t have passenger train service until the end of the year at the earliest.
Amtrak says it won’t have the personnel to staff Amtrak Cascades service between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. until the end of 2022.
That service includes stops in Bellingham and Mount Vernon.
Transportation departments in both Washington and Oregon say they’re dissatisfied with the plan and hope service can resume sooner.
Amtrak will continue to offer bus service from Bellingham to connect with trains in Seattle.
