ANACORTES, Wash – The Skagit County Hearing Examiner will hold a public hearing November 2nd on a shoreline permit application for the proposed expansion of the Anacortes oil refinery.
The project web site for the Andeavor Anacortes Refinery (formerly Tesoro) says the proposed $90 million upgrade will improve air quality near the facility and increase capacity.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports the project proposal includes production of mixed xylene, a compound found in gasoline, is used to make clothing, plastics and other synthetic products with about five additional vessels a month needed to support the production and shipment.
Tesoro changed its name to Andeavor in August of this year.
The Skagit Valley Hearing Examiner has scheduled the meeting for 9am November 2nd at the Skagit County Board of Commissioners’ hearing room in Mount Vernon.
