BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Tsunami sirens and emergency response protocols will be tested across the state Thursday morning.

The Great Washington ShakeOut is part of a nationwide event set to go off at 10:18 AM as residents and agencies drill for an emergency or disaster, like an earthquake.

More than 20,000 people in the county have registered to participate, including the Sheriff’s Office, Whatcom Community College and multiple grade schools.

Expect to hear the new tsunami siren installed at Birch Bay last month join the others in this test.
