SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — Another national retail chain with Washington ties is declaring bankruptcy.

Cookware and kitchen chain Sur La Table is closing 56 of its 121 stores as it seeks protection, the latest casualty of the coronavirus pandemic.

The privately held Seattle-based company says it has agreed to sell its remaining stores and will keep with its e-commerce business and cooking classes.

The company got its start at Pike Place Market in 1972.
