OLYMPIA, Wash. — High school juniors and seniors in Washington that are interested in a career with law enforcement can get a jump start at a week-long summer camp.

The State Patrol hosts this year’s Washington State Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Camp on July 28 – August 2 in Shelton.

The camp is meant to give those selected the opportunity to look at different roles and job opportunities in law enforcement.

Courses touch on all skills policemen and state troopers use in the field, from evidence gathering and forensic science, to weapons safety and self defense.

Applications to be one of the 20 students are available for download here, and are due on May 10.
