BELLINGHAM, Wash. – There’s a plan to build something in Whatcom County that would honor Chinese, Indian and Japanese immigrants who faced bigotry.

The Lynden Sikh Temple lead an effort to construct a granite structure known as the Arch of Healing and Reconciliation behind the Bellingham Public Library and across from City Hall.

The arch will honor immigrants to the Pacific Northwest from China, India and Japan, and recognize others who immigrated to the U.S. since the 1800s.

A ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for September 4th at 10:00 am.
