CONWAY, Wash. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins repairs today on a Skagit River levee with the goal of protecting lives and property from future flooding.
The repairs will cost nearly one million dollars and cover 1,200 feet of damage that occurred last November after the Skagit River experienced extremely high flows.
The U.S. Army Corps says the levee — located southwest of Conway — will be restored to a fifty-year level of protection to prepare for future floods.
