EVERSON, Wash. – The latest possible sighting of an Asian Giant Hornet in Whatcom County has state epidemiologists concerned.
A post from the state Department of Agriculture Thursday, September 17th, says the possible specimen was photographed flying east of Everson on the northwest flank of Sumas Mountain.
The department says this is worrisome because the location is far away from the Blaine area where sightings and nests discovered so far have been concentrated.

It asks that everyone keep their eyes open and cameras ready to help them track the invasive species.
To report Asian Giant Hornet sightings, go to the Department of Agricultures website.
Meanwhile, the department says they’ll wait until late next week to attack the third nest found in the Blaine area this year.
It’s high in a tree and they’ll need special equipment to eradicate it.
We've had a few questions about whether #AsianGiantHornet nest #3 for the year has been eradicated. The nest entrance is twentyish feet up in the tree, so we are obtaining special equipment to remove this nest. Tentative plan is the end of next week. pic.twitter.com/tTumD72oCY
