WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The trapping season for Asian giant hornets and other invasive pests is wrapping up.

The Washington Department of Agriculture says it was a busy season for the team tracking the hornets here in Whatcom County.

They discovered and eradicated three nests in August and September.

The trapping season focuses on finding more than 130 invasive pests across the state including Japanese beetles, invasive moths and apple maggots.

The department thanks members of the public for their help in trapping and reporting invasive species that could threaten agriculture.
