BELLINGHAM, Wash. – “Astronomers Without Borders” are collecting  specialized glasses after “The Great American Eclipse.”

Mike Simmons with “Astronomers Without Borders”  said the organization will send the glasses to schools in South America and Asia when eclipses happen there in 2019.

“In some of the places we have been, they don’t have laboratories,” Simmons said. “They don’t have science teachers. Some of them don’t have floors.”

“Glasses Collection Centers” are scattered across the U.S., but the organization is looking for more, Simmons said.

Eclipse glasses can be deposited at Cosmic Comics on Cornwall in Bellingham.
