BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Spokane man was arrested for trying to rob a random person on Telegraph Road Thursday evening.
Police Lieutenant Claudia Murphy reports two people were walking in a parking lot when Cruz B. Mejia approached them, brandished a small knife and demanded that they give him their bag.
They refused and ran away.
Responding officers found Mejia nearby and the victims identified him as the suspect.
They also found him in possession of a coat that had been shoplifted from a Guide Meridian store.
