Avalanche advisory in North Cascades

LAKE CHELAN, Wash. – There’s an avalanche advisory in effect for much of Washington, including the North Cascades.

The west slopes of the Cascades from the Canadian border to the Skagit River and the east slopes from the border to Lake Chelan are covered under the advisory.

Avalanches are part of the reason why the North Cascades Highway will open later than usual this year.
