BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. — Bainbridge Island Police chased and pinned a man’s vehicle after they say he sexually assaulted two high school students and watched a girl in the bathroom at Bainbridge High School.
Chief Matthew Hamner tells KOMO the man assaulted the second student as he was running from the school and hit a police officer with his car Wednesday afternoon.
Schools went into lockdown island-wide and officers from multiple agencies pinned the man’s car between theirs to stop him and had to break the car windows to pull the suspect out.
KOMO spoke with Bainbridge High School students who say they did their best to stay calm during the 30-minute lockdown, while the recent shooting in Parkland, Florida was fresh in their minds.
Hamner says they arrested a 32-year-old man who isn’t from the Island.
