BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Get ready to vote in the primary election.

The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office says primary election ballots will be mailed Wednesday, July 18 to registered voters in Whatcom County.

This election will determine which candidates move on to the general election in November.

The state will provide pre-paid postage in an effort to up voter participation.

Your ballot can be returned by mail or deposited in drop boxes throughout the county.

This primary will narrow down candidates for positions that include U.S. Senator (currently held by Democrat Maria Cantwell), U.S. Representative for the 2nd Congressional District (currently held by Democrat Rick Larsen), and State Senator for 42nd Legislative District (currently held by Republican Doug Ericksen).
