GIG HARBOR, Wash. — A large barge was caught on camera as it ran aground and hit a Gig Harbor home yesterday:
Coast Guard officials said the captain of the tugboat Island Chief fell asleep at the helm.
KIRO reports the barge hit the waterfront home yesterday morning and was bound for Anchorage with no load.
The barge was pulled free by the tug under its own power, neither of which were seriously damaged, and returned to Seattle for further investigation and inspection
No injuries were reported.
