COQUITLAM, BC (AP) – Employees at a British Columbia poultry company are facing animal abuse charges after an undercover video surfaced.

It shows employees at Lilydale in Port Coquitlam throwing, running over and doing other unmentionable things with chickens.

Marcie Moriarty with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals spoke to C-TV.

“Not only would the workers, obviously, anybody depicted in that video we’d be recommending charges to; but there were supervisors involved, and I think, too, there’s a precedent that companies should and can be held responsible.”

The company says it’s “appalled and extremely shocked.”

It asked the BC plant to immediately fire the workers in the video.
