LYNDEN, Wash. — The famous Bellewood Acres will soon have new owners, changing hands from one family to another.

John and Dorie Belisle are looking to retire from the helm at Bellewood, a farm they started in 1996 that eventually grew into 62 acres of apple and pear orchards, a store, a café, a bakery and a distillery.

The Belisles are helping Eric and Julie Abel, along with their son and daughter-in-law Blake and Janelle, transition into key leadership roles.

“In 2002, we opened our farm to the public and have enjoyed the support of our community ever since. Now it is time for us to retire to spend more time with our children and grandchildren. We are so proud to leave our farm in such great hands,” says Dorie Belisle.

The Abel family says they don’t plan any major immediate changes, but that they do plan to get more involved with community and agriculture organizations.
