BELLINGHAM, Wash. – If you’re finding it hard to stifle a cough during the summer months, it may not be due to an illness.
The American Lung Association has released their annual “State of the Air” report, which analyzes the quality of air across the nation.
Bellingham ranked #24 when it came to worst cities for short-term particle pollution.
This marks the first year that Bellingham was added to the list, tying at number 24 with the Boise metro area.
The ALA said that it’s no surprise that Bellingham and other West Coast cities take up most of the spots on that list.
Smoke from wildfires in recent years have contributed to a spike in pollution levels within those cities.
