BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A fire off Bill McDonald Parkway in Bellingham was arson, according to Bellingham Police.
Derek Nolin, 45, of Colorado, set the fire in the 200 block of 34th Street, police said.
The blaze threatened a house before firefighters arrived to douse the flames.
Police say Nolin admitted to firefighters that he sparked the fire.
Nolin may be suffering from mental illness, said a police spokesperson.
