BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A local Bellingham artist has used their skills to turn hate into hope for a downtown business that was vandalized this past summer.

The WinkWink Boutique was victim to vandals who threw large rocks through the windows of the shop while a debate raged over sex education courses they offer for youth.

The Western Front reports artist Kevin Coleman took the rocks used in the attack and, using paint and wires, created works of art that were then auctioned off by WinkWink with all proceeds going toward the Whatcom Youth Pride organization.

The auction raised nearly $4,000, and Coleman says he was happy for the chance to take power away from the vandals while supporting a positive outlet for kids.
