BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The U.S. Trademark Board ruled in 2015 that Nautigirl Brands of Bellingham was not similar enough to those of Nautica Apparel.

The board refused to cancel Nautigirl’s trademark, ending years of litigation, or so we thought.

“They’ve already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to, not only try to shut me down, but shut other companies down.”

Nautigirl CEO Christine Palmerton says Nautica is once again going after her company, this time over clothing.

“It’s not just me, this is a huge problem for the economy nation-wide. So many small businesses are going under or stopping what they’re doing because of the corporations are… The threat of the legal battle itself is daunting, and its something that small businesses can’t take on.”

A go-fund-me page is set up to help with legal expenses.

We reached out to Nauitca, but haven’t heard back.
