BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham-based charity is sending aid to a Kenya community hit when a dam burst Wednesday evening, destroying homes and killing dozens.

Childcare Worldwide has an office in Kenya where it has helped the area for years and says it is only 12 miles from the dam in Nakuru County.

Rescue efforts are ongoing with at least forty-nine people dead and forty still missing.

Childcare Worldwide says it’s helping provide food, water and shelter to the thousands of now homeless victims.
