BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham City Council is considering some code changes to help in the City’s response to the pandemic.

At a meeting Monday night, they will consider changes related to the emergency powers of the Mayor.

Despite some rumors and apparent interest from gun rights advocates, Mayor Fleetwood says no action is being taken at this meeting that relates to banning guns.

He says rumors involving firearms regulations, martial law, or closing city streets, are false.

The City Council will not be considering regulations banning the sale of alcohol and gasoline.

Community members are invited to engage with Council via email, letter and telephone and to watch the meeting online or on BTV to ensure safe social distancing.
