BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham City Council held a meeting this week to re-organize for the new year and established committees, including one to consider recommendations by a citizen Climate Action Task Force.

Councilmembers Dan Hammill and Pinky Vargas will sit on the committee that will be chaired by Hannah Stone.

The Task Force presented its recommendations to the council in December with a focus on eliminating carbon emssions from homes, businesses and transportation in the city.

The council also picked long-serving member Gene Knutson as president.
