BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Students in a Bellingham elementary class are returning to remote learning due to a confirmed COVID-19 case.
A spokesperson for Bellingham Public Schools tells KGMI someone associated with the class at Birchwood Elementary School has tested positive for the virus.
COVID-19 cases are currently surging in Whatcom County with record high new case counts in recent days, according to data from the health department.
Similar trends are occurring statewide and, in response, Governor Inslee has tightened restrictions to prevent the spread of the disease.
