BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham residents are feeling the effects of rising housing costs, but people are working on solutions.
The Bellingham Herald reports on Twitter about 200 people attended the city’s meeting on housing affordability Tuesday night where speakers linked rising rents to increases in homelessness.
A man with the Kulshan Community Land trust talked about a project that will provide homes in the 175-to-200-thousand- dollar price range.
A Habitat for Humanity volunteer is also optimistic about solutions to the housing crisis.
But others worry that rising rents will force them to leave.
The Herald reports via Twitter that landlords who refuse to rent to people on Section-8 emerged as a hot topic at the meeting.
