BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham man is in custody after being caught breaking in to a cannabis growing facility in the Sunnyland neighborhood.

Court records state that the owner saw the suspect prowling outside the Lincoln Street building on a cellphone-based camera system at about 7 a.m. on September 25th.

Officers arrived and saw 26-year-old Israel Anthony Espinoza duck back inside the building.

He came out 30 minutes later and claimed he thought the building was abandoned.

The owner estimates he caused about $20,000 in damage.

Espinoza faces felony burglary and malicious mischief charges.
