BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Hiding in the bushes is one way to avoid police, but one Bellingham man learned the hard way that he should’ve picked a different hiding place.
Police were called to the Four Points Sheraton Hotel early Saturday, November 6th, after a witness saw the man prowling around the parking lot looking into cars.
Court documents state that the man set off a car alarm and got into a vehicle while police were on their way.
Officers found one of the car’s windows had been shattered with a rock and multiple backpacks were discovered a few feet away near some bushes.
The suspect was located in the same set of bushes, but ran when officers approached him.
He was eventually apprehended and taken into custody.
Police later identified him as Andrew Harley.
He was found to have been under the influence of fentanyl at the time of the burglary.
