BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham man is in jail after police say he smashed out most of the front windows of a U.S. Post Office with a crowbar.

Police responded Saturday afternoon to reports of a man breaking windows at the Post Office at Orleans Street and Sunset Drive.

Early reports said he may have been firing shots into the front of the building but officers confirmed he was only armed with a crowbar.

They arrested Michael Wayne Zick for malicious mischief.

He told officers he has a number of grievances with the federal government and this was his form of protest.

Damage is estimated at $22,000.
