BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham man accused of stealing nearly $1 million of his vulnerable mother’s money was arrested Wednesday on first degree theft charges.
According to court documents, Jeanne Blackmore is 91-years-old and suffers from dementia, so her son, William Edward Blackmore was appointed her Power of Attorney and had access to her finances.
William Blackmore is accused of spending more than $950,000 drawn from his mother’s various bank accounts, IRA’s and COD’s between January 2015 and May 2017.
An Adult Protective Services social worker said in court documents that this money was either spent or was unaccounted as of September 2017.
